Construction Projects:
- Deck construction and repair
- Tin roof prep and installation
- Vinyl flooring prep and installation
- Assist with the preparation of the job site, including measuring, leveling, and marking layouts for construction projects.
- Support the demolition and removal of old materials when performing repairs or replacements.
- Help with cutting, assembling, and fastening construction materials according to specifications.
- Follow instructions from the Field Manager to perform construction duties.
- Maintain safe and organized work areas, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored and handled.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment under the supervision of the Field Manager.
- Comply with company safety policies, industry regulations, and best practices on every project.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Work under the guidance of an experienced manager to develop skills in safe tool operation, construction techniques, and site practices.
- Gain familiarity with building codes, safety standards, construction planning, and proper material handling.
- Begin with foundational tasks such as measuring, cutting, and site preparation, progressing to advanced work including framing, decking, and repairs.
- Receive ongoing supervision and constructive feedback from the Field Manager to support skill development.
- Upon completion of the program, trainees will be prepared with the fundamental construction skills needed to pursue entry-level roles in the construction industry.
Located in Atka, Alaska. While working in the field, this job operates both indoors and outdoors in an unpredictable and remote environment with limited phone and internet connections. While working outdoors, the worksite conditions may be cold, wet, and damp. Requires a sense of awareness of potential hazards while working near water and at construction sites.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or listen. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to lift, rotate, and lower 60 pounds consistently throughout the workday.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a resident of an APICDA community: Atka, Akutan, False Pass, Nelson Lagoon, Nikolski, St. George, or Unalaska
- High school degree or GED.
- Previous construction or heavy equipment operation experience preferred.
- Ability to work varied and extended hours to meet operational demands.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to solve problems.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with others.
- Self-motivated and reliable.
